This Circular Rosewood container (Snuff) is beautifully turned with a stunning patina. The Coat of Arms on the lid is really what sets this Antique apart as regards rarity. The solid Silver Coat of Arms on the Lid is that of The Portugeuse Monarch. The 'Quinas' with the seven Castle surrond is of The Brigantine Dynasty. The Coat of Arms with the seven castles was introduced during the reign of Sebastian l (late 16th century). The Silver dates to Circa 1820 and The Snuff box was made much later. This is a curious item with Royal connections.
